Betty Ford's Personal Copy of the First Limited Edition of A Vision for America; Lengthily and Warmly Inscribed by President Gerald R. Ford to His Son
FORD, Gerald R. [Betty Ford].
A Vision for America.
Northridge, California: Lord John Press, 1980.
First limited edition of President Gerald R. Ford's address to the Republican National Convention in Detroit, Michigan in 1980, inscribed by Ford to his son. Octavo, bound in full blue leather with gilt titles to the spine and front panel, frontispiece portrait of Gerald R. Ford. Betty Ford's own personal copy as stated on the colophon page to the rear and boldly signed by Gerald R. Ford. Association copy, inscribed by Ford to his son, "To Jack, with appreciation for his great help in '76’, his success in the G.O.P Convention in ‘96’ in San Diego and his support for Mother and me over the years. LOVE, Gerald R. Ford ‘Dad’." John "Jack" Gardner Ford, born in 1952, was a student at Utah State University during Ford's presidential years and worked during the summer as a ranger at Yellowstone National Park. When Gerald Ford ran for reelection in 1976, Jack was at the forefront, speaking on television and meeting voters all across the country. In the years following his participation in the campaign, Jack remained involved in Republican politics and even served on the host committee for the Republican National Convention in 1996. In fine condition. Housed in the original cloth slipcase. A simply stunning inscription from the former President to his second child.
