First edition of this early Hemingway classic, which established him among the American masters. Octavo, original black cloth with gilt labels to the spine and front panel. First issue with Scribner's seal to title verso and without legal disclaimer. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. Near fine in a very good first state dust jacket with expert restoration and the misspelling "Katharine Barclay" in the blurb on the front flap. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box and folding chemise.
