Second printing, issued before publication in April 1931. Presentation copy, inscribed by Dr. Seuss on the front pastedown, “With Best Wishes to Chuck Meeks, Dr. Seuss.” In very good condition with rubbing. An appealing early Dr. Seuss inscribed item.
More Boners (1931) is the sequel to the popular collection of unintentionally comic answers and mistakes gathered from schoolroom examination papers by the compiler Alexander Abingdon. The book is chiefly prized today for its illustrations by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel), for whom Boners and its sequels were among the very first books he illustrated, six years before his own first children’s book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street (1937). A great popular success, the Boners series helped launch his career. Geisel would go on to become the most beloved children’s author of the twentieth century, the creator of The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
