Exceedingly Scarce Baseball Signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Scarce miniature baseball signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, boldly signed by Roosevelt in red ink on the sweet spot, “Franklin D. Roosevelt.” Undated, but the signature is consistent with exemplars of about 1937 and was therefore made during his presidency. With soiling and light scuffing consistent with age, the ink remaining bold and with great visual appeal. Accompanied by a copy of a Letter of Authenticity issued by PSA/DNA. Baseballs bearing the signature of Franklin Roosevelt are exceptionally scarce and of the greatest rarity.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the thirty-second President of the United States, led the nation through the Great Depression and the Second World War and remains the only president ever elected to four terms. A lifelong lover of baseball, Roosevelt threw out the ceremonial first pitch at numerous season openings in Washington, and in 1942 he wrote the celebrated Green Light Letter to the commissioner of baseball, urging that the game continue through the war years for the good of the nation’s morale. Autograph material of Roosevelt in any form is highly collectible, and a baseball signed by him, certified here by PSA/DNA, is among the rarest and most desirable of presidential sports mementos.
