Rare photograph of a reentry capsule signed by Wally Schirra. Glossy photograph of Schirra exiting the Apollo 7 reentry capsule during a recovery operation, with a NASA identification number to the upper left edge. Boldly signed by NASA astronaut Wally Schirra on the capsule in black felt tip. In near fine condition. Marked on the verso “Manned Spacecraft Center Houston Texas Official Photograph” and dated October 22, 1968. The piece measure 8 inches by 10 inches.
The fifth American in space during the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission and the only astronaut to fly in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs, Walter 'Wally' Schirra’s career in NASA represents each step in answering Kennedy’s 1961 call to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s.
