Trevanian (1931–2005), the pseudonym of American author Rodney William Whitaker, was a novelist and academic known for his genre-defying works that blend elements of thriller, satire, and literary fiction. Initially gaining fame with novels such as The Eiger Sanction (1972) and The Loo Sanction (1973), Trevanian established a reputation for sophisticated, often ironic narratives that both engage with and critique popular genre conventions.
