Justin McCarthy (1830–1912) was an Irish nationalist politician, journalist, and historian whose writings shaped late nineteenth-century interpretations of British and Irish political life. A Member of Parliament for the Irish Parliamentary Party and at one time its leader, McCarthy combined active political engagement with a substantial literary career, producing historical works, biographies, and novels.
