First edition of Greene's masterpiece. Octavo, bound in three quarters morocco by Bayntun-Riviere, gilt titles to the spine, raised bands, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. In near fine condition.
Hailed by John Updike as "Graham Greene's masterpiece." The Power and the Glory was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the hundred best English-language novels since 1923. In 1947, the novel was adapted into a film, The Fugitive, directed by John Ford and starring Henry Fonda as the priest.
