"Even now don't you realize that there is a great lot of social injustice everywhere?": First edition of H.G. Wells' The Bulpington of Blup; in the rare original dust jacket
First edition of Wells' psychological novel, heavily influenced by Jung. Octavo, original cloth, pictorial endpapers. Very good in the rare original dust jacket which is in very good condition.
Often referred to as the "father of science fiction", along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback, English writer H.G. Wells was prolific in many genres, publishing dozens of novels and novellas in addition to treatises on social commentary, history, and two books on recreational war games. Although he is now most remembered for his works of science fiction, during his lifetime he was most prominent as a forward-looking, even prophetic social critic who devoted his literary talents to the development of a progressive vision on a global scale. The Bulpington of Blup is a character study analyzing the psychological sources of resistance to Wellsian ideology, and was influenced by Wells's acquaintance with Carl Gustav Jung and his ideas.
