First edition. Octavo, original cloth bound in the draperies of The Hotel Splendide. One of 60 copies for "Private Distribution" signed by Ludwig Bemelmans. Addtionally inscribed by Bemelmans, opposite the signed limited page. There was also the more common 245 copies signed by Bemelmans. In fine condition. Slipcase is worn.
Hotel Splendide is a collection of stories and drawings detailing Bemelmans' time at the Hotel Splendide where he worked as a waiter after arriving in New York from Austria.
