Russian Orthodox story of Saint Nicholas, likely printed in Slavonic by the Old Believers in the early 19th Century, in the style of a 17th century text. Octavo, bound in full brown calf, tooling to the spine and front panel, brass and leather closures. Illustrated with black and red text, decorative initials, and page numbers. In very good condition.
The ‘Old Believers’ revolted against the liturgical reforms introduced by the Russian Orthodox Patriarch Nikon of Moscow in the 17th century.
