First edition of Grisham's first book. Octavo, original half cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page in the year of publication, "For Louise Campbell Good to see you again. I hope you enjoy it. Best Wishes John Grisham 8-10-89." The recipient and the author were friends at college. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with light shelfwear and some spotting to the outer edges. Jacket design by Susanne DeMarco. A nice association.
A Time To Kill was rejected by numerous publishers before Wynwood Press eventually published it in a small first printing of only 5,000 copies. "Grisham's pleasure in relating the Byzantine complexities of Clanton politics is contagious and he tells a good story...An enjoyable book" (Library Journal).
