Autograph Letter Signed by Abraham Lincoln requesting a railroad pass for a medical volunteer during the Civil War. In very good condition with light folds. The letter reads, "I suppose this man has been doing something for our sick soldiers, and I should think it would be no more than fair that he should have a Railroad pass to his home at Albany, New York. A. Lincoln. July 2, 1862." Matted and framed with an original carte-de-visite of Lincoln. The letter measures 4 inches by 2.75 inches. The entire piece measures 19 inches by 16 inches. Rare and desirable.
Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He led the United States through its Civil War, and in doing so preserved the Union of the United States of America, abolished slavery, and strengthened the federal government.
