At the 1998 NATO summit, Albright coined the “3 Ds” of NATO, “which is no diminution of NATO, no discrimination and no duplication – because I think that we don’t need any of those three “Ds” to happen.” After her tenure as Secretary of State, she served as chair of the consulting Albright Stonebridge Group and was the Michael and Virginia Mortara Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. For Albright’s contributions to foreign policy and relations that defined a century, President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. In fine condition. Aivali by Soloup is a graphic novel that blends history, memory, and personal narrative to explore the tragic events of the Greek population exchange in the early 20th century. Set against the backdrop of the Greek-Turkish conflict, the novel focuses on the town of Aivali (modern-day Ayvalık) and the lives of its inhabitants, particularly during the Greco-Turkish War and the subsequent population exchanges that followed the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne. Soloup’s evocative illustrations and poignant storytelling bring to light the emotional and cultural upheaval caused by the forced migration, highlighting themes of displacement, identity, and loss. Through the eyes of its characters, Aivali provides a human perspective on historical events, offering readers a powerful reflection on the personal costs of geopolitical struggles. The graphic novel is both an exploration of the past and a meditation on the enduring impact of history on personal and collective memory.
