C.S. Lewis' correspondence was extensive. He relished his friends, his former pupils in particular, his letters to them being 'pastime with good company' continued in another mode; and again as his broadcasts and writings first caught the public attention, a flood of letters started to come in from strangers, each one being given the courtesy of a full personal reply. From all this varied material his brother has now made a selection, adding to it an introductory memoir.
