Book cradles have been used for centuries to present the interiors of bound materials without putting unnecessary stress on delicate book bindings. It is the common practice of many libraries to display a spread of pages for several weeks and then turn the page to preserve the condition of the book's pages and spine. Books displays are often rotated to give displayed books a 'rest' for two to three months upright on a shelf to further preserve its condition.
